Block Paving.
Individual concrete or clay blocks laid in herringbone, basket-weave or stretcher bond — tailored to match the architecture of your home, from period properties to new-builds.
How block paving works.
Block paving uses individual blocks bedded onto a laying course over a compacted sub-base. Pattern, colour and edge detail can be chosen to suit your home — from period properties to new-builds. And because each block is its own unit, a damaged area can be lifted and relaid without redoing the whole drive.

- Individual blocks can be lifted and replaced

RoutineTop up the joints+
Brush kiln-dried sand back into the joints so the blocks stay locked together.
AnnuallyTreat weeds and moss+
A quick weed and moss treatment keeps the joints clean and the drive looking sharp.
3–5 yearsRe-seal the surface+
A fresh sealant protects the colour and helps keep the joints firm.
Block Paving questions.
Which pattern is strongest?+
Herringbone is typically chosen for driveways because it resists movement under turning wheels.
Will weeds grow between blocks?+
Correct jointing sand reduces this; occasional maintenance is still needed.
Do I need planning permission?+
Front gardens over 5 m² usually need a permeable design or drainage to a lawn or border. Permeable block variants are available — we advise at assessment.
